At Skay Automotive, we are seeing an increase of customers purchasing used cars without having a pre-purchase inspection and are now left with a lengthy to-do list.

What is a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI)?

A PPI is a vehicle inspection performed by a licensed mechanic. This mechanic will thoroughly inspects the vehicle to determine its cosmetic, mechanical and safety condition.

Why get a PPI?

Buying a new vehicle can be an exciting, high stress experience. If you take time to get a PPI before purchasing the vehicle, you can potentially prevent getting sweet talked into a deal. Everything may look nice and perfect on the outside, but what is under the hood? What about the undercarriage? Salt? Rust? A PPI can provide you piece of mind knowing you are making a good and safe purchase.

Where can you get a PPI?

If you are buying a vehicle from a dealer, they often conduct the vehicle inspection onsite but they should also be opened to you taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be inspected. If you are buying from a private seller, you can ask for a recommendation or take the vehicle to your own mechanic.

As a consumer, it is your right to have a PPI. Skay Automotive offers pre-purchase inspections at low to no cost and all you have to do is call to schedule an appointment. If there are additional concerns with the initial PPI, we do charge hourly for a more detail inspection.’
